The Town showed considerably improved form on Saturday, when they defeated Compton Bassett in a Calne and District League match by 6 goals to nil. The first half was evenly contested, but after the interval the home team fell to pieces, and L W. Chequers (3), F. Selman (2) and Compton scored for the Town. A. S. Beale was in fine form until he was injured, as was Compton. Both players moved into the forward line, where they rendered good service.
Tomorrow the Town team will visit Horton and Coate (Devizes) in the second round Calne and District Knockout Cup Competition, and the chosen team is: F. Emery; A.S. Beale and H. Clarke; J. Norris, F. Wilkins, and A. Compton; F. Selman, S. Titcombe, L. W. Chequers, W. Ogbourne and W. Sandell.
