Replay now also needed in the Wilts Junior Cup

Avebury, the only club to defeat Wootton Bassett Town in the Calne and District League this season on the Sports Ground, were hosts on Saturday in the third round of the Wilts Junior Cup Competition, and an evenly-contested game ended in a draw of 2 goals each. The Town started off at a great pace, and within two minutes F. Selman had secured the lead. Play was transferred to the other end, and R. Lewis, Avebury's prolific goal-getter. should have equalised, but his shot crashed against the bar. After 21 minutes' play S. Titcombe put the Town further ahead, but just before the interval Paradise reduced the lead.

In the second half play was fast, with each side pulling their weight in a ding-dong struggle. Only four minutes remained when R. Lewis scored the equaliser. Praise is due to both goalkeepers for their fine work. Not a single foul was given, all agreeing that it was the best game seen at Avebury this season. The referee was Mr. E. Perret (Upavon).

The Town team for the Wilts Junior Cup replay at the Sports Ground against Avebury tomorrow will be: F. emery; A.S. Beale and H. Clarke; E. Evans, E. Tull and A. Compton; F. Selman, L.W. Chequers, M. Titcombe, S. Titcombe and W. Sandell.
