Bassett secure win despite penalty miss

Chippenham Congregationals' football team -the only side to beat the Town in the Calne and District League last season - were the visitors on Saturday and a keen game resulted in a win for the home team by 2 goals to 1. After seven minutes play Lundy, the visitors' goalkeeper saved a penalty taken by H. Clarke following a foul on Titcombe. The Town afterwards took the lead through Titcombe following a fine solo effort, and just before half-time Griffin got the equaliser. About midway through the second half Titcombe gave the Town the victory after a fine centre by Sandell. H. Clarke, who received a head injury, was able to resume after attention from the trainer.

The Town's first eleven will visit Clyffe Pypard tomorrow in a Calne and District League match and the team will be: F. emery; A.S. Beale and H. Clarke; E. Evans, E. Tull and A. Compton; J. Norris, L.W. Chequers, M. Titcombe, F. Wilkins (or A.W. Clarke) and W. Sandell.
