The only match played in Wootton Bassett during the holidays was on Saturday, when the Town entertained Compton Bassett in a Calne and District League game. The Town were below their usual strength, H. Leighfield, E. Fry and Ogbourne taking the places of A S. Beale, A. Compton and W. Sandell. After 25 minutes play, Ponting gave the visitors the lead, but just before the interval J. Norris brought the scores level.
In the second half Hooper put the visitors ahead again. S. Titcombe equalised, and it was with the last kick of the match that L. W. Chequers secured a victory for the Town by the odd goal in five.
Tomorrow the Town will receive a visit from Calne Trinity in a Calne and District League match and their team will be: F. Emery; A.S. Beale and H. Clarke; E. Evans, E. Tull and A. Compton; F. Selman, L.W. Chequers, M. Titcombe, S. Titcombe and W. Sandell.
