Wootton Bassett Town FC U12'S have won the North Wilts Division 1 title after beating Ferndale 3-2 A.E.T. This was always going to be a close game between the teams after both teams have played 20 won 19 and only losing to each other in the league.
In the first half Bassett controlled the game throughout and with only 5 Min's gone Josh Shama finding himself open in front of goal only to side foot the ball into the arms of the grateful Ferndale keeper. Bassett kept pressing but only for Ferndale to score on there first meaningful attack.
Bassett kept pressing and after a serious of corners Ben Nash fired home the equaliser from 20 yards. In the 2nd half ferndale scored again but with ten minutes to go Bassett scored with a header from Callum Little to make it 2 all,
Now with Ferndale reduced down to 10 men for a straight red offence Bassett scored again but was disallowed for offside, and with the game now in extra time, Jonathan McDonald for Bassett collected the ball and started running down the wing he cut in and fired the all important shot across the diving keeper into the far bottom corner of the goal making the score 3-2 to Bassett and that's how it finished.
The coaches would like to thank all the parents for the support they have given us and the team over the season. We would also like to thank John Brain, Gordon White for doing the nets, and Paul little, Kevin Shail and Gary Nash for doing the line for us. I would also like to thank Sue Hazzard for supplying the oranges for the team throughout the season and if I have missed anyone else out I am sorry but thanks to you all.
One more point is all of the team would like to thank you all for the support in yesterdays game from the other managers and parents from the other Bassett teams and also the 1st team Manager being there to watch the U12's crowned Division 1 champions.
