Big 12-0 win for Bassett against Old Town Utd

What a week in football makes, from last weeks nail biting quarterfinal victory by pens to a convincing 12 nil victory against Old Town in the end. Before we kicked off we told the lads what kind of game plan we wanted, we told them the pitch was heavy so you can't really run with it, you need to pass the ball round and let the ball do the work, in the first half we did not do that to well, and that's what is frustrating about it, yes the score line was good in the end, but our work rate could have been better with the passing and the options the boys had, they need to take the right ones instead of having blinkers on them at times.

The team started off fairly sluggish for about ten minutes or so, wayward passes just kicking the ball to anyone and not actually creating any really clear-cut chances. Jonathan (5) a signing before Christmas was playing his 1st game today and as the game went on he became more and more settled into his role and over the game he must have scored the quickest hat trick to date, 3 goals in around 1 and half minutes. His finishing was good but the balls put through to him were as equal to his finishing.

The back 3 today was fairly quite with Nashie, Seb & Ryan (Captain today) clearing everything up that came there way and Kieran the goalie was only called upon for a few mins over the game and was happy to come out on the pitch later on in the game and still managed to score, his second goal of the season.

Jake upfront with Jonathan did his usual commitment with his ever present running and never giving up scored for his efforts 4, his best one when he was on the wing he cut in and curled the ball right round the diving keeper into the top corner. Callum recovering from the flu came on as sub and tried to get into the game and he found it hard as he has not played since 10th Dec but to his credit he kept going,

Harry (1) and Ellis (1) controlled the game at times and they both played really well today with good talking and running and with Matthew still trying to find his feet in this team is improving and he will get better all the time.

Nick K came on as sub and to be fair he played a very good game, his no nonsense balls put our strikers through to score a couple goals and at times he held the ball in the middle very very well and distributed wide which was pleasing to see, Danny was on fire and had another great game today, he proves he is a good squad player as well as Cole who was used as a sub came on in defence and made important tackles when required to do so.

Next week we play Greenmeadow, so we need to step it up again as we need to stamp our authority in this league, as Greenmeadow lost today against Ferndale they will be looking for revenge for there defeat today so come on lads lets show them !!!!!!!!
