Bassett lose first league game of the season

Today Bassett went to Ferndale hoping if they win this one they would have taken a big step to winning the title they last one in the U10's league.

Bassett started off brightly against Ferndale and always seemed to have control of the game throughout the 1st half, the team were creating the chances with the ball going down the wing and crossing into the Ferndale box but no one was there to convert the chances created by the good play.

Ryan and Grant were having a good game at the back and with Nashie and Seb also fairly comfortable Bassett were looking good for another win. After chance came and went Jake found himself unmarked in the Ferndale's area and with the ball whipped across to him Jake bundled the ball over the line to make it 1 nil to Bassett, as the game went on the team looked more and more at ease with themselves and by half time the team should have been 4 or 5 ahead of Ferndale, but not to be and the sucker punch came just before half time when the ball was shot from some distance and with the pitch being so hard and uneven Kieran spilled a low difficult shot and Ferndale we the quickest to react to poke the ball over the line to make it 1-1 and half time was here.

2nd half kicked off and the usual story was Bassett controlling the game and again a few more chances created but unable to convert then Callum out of nowhere scored to make it 2-1 to the away team. For some reason the lads changed the way they played and started to kick the ball straight down the middle and that played into Ferndale's hands, Ferndale started to create a few more chances and could only shoot from long range and this is where Ferndale 2nd came from, they shot from 25 yards and the ball was going wide then suddenly it found its way in the inside post to make it 2-2.

Straight afterwards Ferndale was given a freekick that never was, and from that the ball was punted long Kieran collected it and was then bundled over the line, everyone saw it was not a goal but it was given. I wonder why ??????

To be fair the lads heads dropped then as we all know why, and soon after that goal Ferndale scored a very good goal which flew into the top corner making it 4-2 to Ferndale game over.

The lads played very good football for most of it today and was unlucky not to win this one, but Bassett to win the league always do it the hard way and if they win all there games and Ferndale slipping up we will Lift the Title once again.

Well done boys keep going.
