Jon McDonald scores 8 in a 10 –2 win at home to Croft

After last weeks important win against Greenmeadow, Bassett needed to concentrate on today's game because for all the good football and all the points so far this season the lads still have not won anything yet.

The conditions for today's game was clear blue sky's but the wind was very very strong, Bassett won the toss so they decided to ko with the wind, and it paid off with 2 goals in 2 minutes for the home side and after that we lost our way a little, we hurried and we were kicking the ball too quick instead of controlling it and passing it around,

Danny on the wing had a good game with his run's and little flicks here and there, with the makeshift defence of Grant, (the only Original one today) Nick, Harry and Ellis looked fairly comfortable most of the game but Croft's goals came the way of indecision's in the back and they converted them comfortably to score their 2 goals which were our only goals against us at home this season.

As the first half went on we started to pass the ball around much better and started to control the game, with good passing now being done we started to undo the Croft's team and started to create more and more chances, Jake for all his hard work yet again ran his socks off in the first and 2nd half and helped create chances for Josh and Jonathan throughout the game, Callum in midfield hounded the opposition and played well again, but today he had a few chances but could not score, if he was still out there now he would still not be on the score sheet for today. (Never mind keep trying Callum). Try shooting at the goal next time.

Half time came and now the lads were told, we are playing against the wind so the balls need to be hard and low to our forwards and the team did that, considering the wind against them, the team played even better in the 2nd half than the 1st, Croft did not create any real chances with the wind and that enabled Bassett to march on, and with Jonathan on fire today scoring some great goals with some of them slamming into the roof of the net. It's pleasing to see the team can share the goals around and anybody in this team is capable of scoring, with goals coming from all over the field normally, but today with Jon 8, Jake 1 and Josh1 Bassett ran out comfortable winners.

With Kieran in goal we are looking solid, the back 4 not missing much in the game, the midfield along with the wingers are progressing nicely and the forwards of Jake, Callum and Jonathan we have the speed and strength to be a match for anyone.

Again Lads, Well Done today, good team passing and lets move onto Cricklade next week and come out the starting blocks that quick like we did today to make it 15 out of 15 wins.

Keep going and stay focused.
