Bassett win a massive game 1-0 against Greenmeadow

This is what football is all about, two big teams with Bassett going for the league and with Greenmeadow now having to give up their title they have now lost to either us or Ferndale.

The game is here, Bassett needed to win today and with our 2nd game in 2 days this is it, we win we stay top and looks like a play off is needed to see who wins the league, if we lose we finish 2nd, that is as simply as that.

Ready to RRRRRRUUUUMMMMMBBBBLLLLEEEEE, and yes they were, the lads are up for it straight from the whistle and they are off, the team of Kieran, Cole, Grant,Nashie, Seb,Jonathan, Josh,Nick,Jack, Callum and Jake with subs of Danny, Ryan and Ellis the team was rolling. To be fair the lads were doing everything we were telling them, ball out wide crossing into the middle and the strikers were waiting to finish the ball.

The team was looking good now Josh and Jonathan up and down the wings with Jake later on moved to the wing were working well, the forwards moving round and by doing this we were creating the chances and to be fair we were the better team throughout the whole game.

The coaches knew if the team kept creating the chances we would score, and 3/4 the way through the 1st half I shouted switch, suddenly Josh from the wing switched with Jonathan to up front and within 30 seconds the ball came through to Josh, who the defence of Greenmeadow was not expecting it, Josh still with a lot of work to do collected the ball ran and teased the midfield and defence cut in and coolly slotted the ball home to make it 1 Nil to Bassett and with the parents going mental the team who have nearly stayed on top of the league all season was winning the most important game and remaining top.

This is how it stayed with good defending, good counter attacks, and with Greenmeadow having run out of idea's, and with 5 minutes to go Bassett had 2 clear cut chances to put the game well beyond the opposition but we blasted both over the bar with no challenges on our players who maybe should have done better, but with the final whistle going The Team the Parents knew, and with Ferndale watching this is it we all jumped up and down and the game was over, we were top and possible on the way to a play off for the league, with Ferndale being home we knew they would be alright with their 12th man.

Great team effort lads you deserve to win the league on this result with all the hard work you have all put in this season, This is why we need a big and good team to keep going so you all get a proper rest throughout the long season and next season will be even bigger.
