Bassett win 4-0 at Rylands Way against Marlborough Town

This was our last game at home and we were fortunate to play at Rylands Way so our thanks to Rod Carter and Roger Williamson for letting us play there. The team having 2 games in 2 days to play and we needed to play sensibly football today to save our energy against a Greenmeadow team who beat us 4 days earlier in the Cup Final to maintain our challenge on the league.

The lads played well against Marlbrough Town and they all used their heads including Nashie, to play sensible football which was letting the ball do the work passing it out wide and playing to feet. As I said they needed to do this and with a good size squad we are able to rotate players and able to get there energy back, and if carrying any injuries there are able to rest and recover and get fully fit without the need to hurry back.

Grant and Nashie had another good game at the back, with Ryan and Seb seemed to be having a day off but did enough to get through, Jake (2) and Callum with Jonathan (1) up front all playing well but still at times needs to watch the offside, Danny having a good run in to the end of the season and he is progressing nicely, Jack (1) and Nick fairly comfortable today with Cole and Ellis chasing every ball and most of the time Kieran watching from his empty goal area, by Half time the lads were 3 nil up, game finished so it came as no surprise that there was only one more goal to come in the second half to make the score 4 nil to Bassett.

The score line could have been more but poor finishing today let us down, but then the chances were created which was more important than no chances at all.

Well done again lads a big big game tomorrow and if you win that we have one hand on the league trophy.
