Bassett win big against their bogey side

Today's game saw the U12's away to Marlborough Town, Bassett was going into this game having played 4 won Four and conceding one goal but this team of Marlborough are our bogey team so I was wanting Bassett to put that thought to bed today.

With the pitch being small Bassett found it hard to convert the chances they created, the ball was either being hit to long or crossed to far, the shots were going just wide or just over, so any other day with the right size goals we may have had more.

At times the team played well, when they got the ball on the floor and out to the wings we looked threatening, but as I said the crosses or the final ball was not good enough today because of the issues of the pitch of which I had mentioned earlier.

Half time came and the score line was nil-nil, the lads knew what to do and what was expected of them and I gently reminded them of that, the lads came out to the second half and as soon as the whistle went the lads got the ball and good play between Ellis and Jake we made the break through, to score the first goal and then Bassett did not look back.

One of the better goals scored today was well worked between Josh, Jack and Harry, the ball come from Jack out to Josh on the wing who had plenty of time to look up and pin point the cross onto Harry's head who buried it in to the back of the net.

The team is now starting to play football and one good point from today was the boys are heading the ball and Jack and Cole lead by example, but I must say Nashie came under some stick from the sidelines, he must have been ill he headed the ball 3 times on the trot and the next time he should of headed the ball he played it with his feet and got a jokingly boo from the crowd.

Next week we are home to Ferndale so we need to step up again, please be at Ballards Ash for 09:50 for a 10:30 KO. Again well done boys, we still need to head more and get the ball down more and play the football we like playing.
