Bassett played two friendly matches against Athlestan Albion at Rylands Way. In the first match, the Bassett league side were beaten 3-0 by their opponents from the Central Division. Whilst Athlestan were deserved winners, the final score line flattered the visitors as Bassett matched them in most areas. The first goal was down to Bassett passing across their own box when the ball should have been cleared and the second was due to the side pushing up too much and then getting caught on the break. While the two goals could have been avoided, the result was perhaps unexpected from a side that has not played together too much.
