22 Jan 2012 - Ramsbury Juniors (H)

Ramsbuty started the game strong and it was not long before they took a good shot, but Josh made a great choice in coming out and defended the ball well. This was followed by some good runs by Ramsbury and our defence were not up to thier usual standard at this point. Ten mins into the the game and Raisham had a good touch, which he passed to newcomer Tom ,who scored his first goal for Wootton Bassett 1-0 For a while our defence was weak and disorganized. Ramsbury were looking for a goal. Luck was on our side and they missed most of thier shots. Marshall started to play a better game and the teamwork generally started to pick up, when he passed a lovely ball to Adam which he sent straight past the goalie. 2-0 Jack Holder was back in the game after a short time on the side due to injury. He took a lovely chip, but it was too high. A near miss!!

The second half saw us more determined and the great passing that we should be using form the first whistle emerged again. Jamie and Jack Timbrell got into the game tackling well as they began to work harder. Nat and Adam made good use of their midfield flexibility and worked well defending the and taking the ball out of the danger area. Marshall, Raisham and Jack Holder started to use the pitch well and we were now looking the better side for the first time in the game. Raisham made a pass to Jack Holder who fired the ball straight in. 3-0 Ramsbury were then quick to take advantage ot a misplaced goal kick. 3-1 Another session of lovely passing and thoughtful play resulted in a lovely cross past the Ramsbury defence and goalie by Jack Holder 4-1 This was quickly followed by more fantastic play by Jack Holder who saw Tom in a favourable position. A direct pass and another goal for Tom. 5-1 Ramsbury were still in the game and not giving in. They worked hard and this resulted in another goal. 5-2. Thier determination paid off as they weaved through our defence and took the score to 5-3 Another great moment for Jack Holder as he casually scored again making it a hat trick. 6-3 At this point we thought we had done enough and Ramsbury once again took advantage of our slackness. They seemed to walk the ball past the whole team and in what seemed to be a split second scored the final goal of the game. 6-4
