Calne almost won this match at Wootton Bassett, the home side equalising with almost the last kick. In the first half Calne gave such a virile display that they were leading by 3-0 at the interval, Matthews (2) and Blackford being the scorers.
Wootton Bassett played much better after the change-over, and Beazley soon reduced the arrears. The Calne defence had had little to do in the first half, however, and they proved very effective when called upon. Five minutes from the end, however, Beazley beat the Calne goalkeeper again, and in the last-minute Clark received a pass from Brown and equalised.
