Embling goal seals progress in Wiltshire County Cup

Chippenham Rovers, who are having such a lean time in the League this season, bade goodbye to the County Cup at the first hurdle, after leading halfway round the course. The early stages brought attack and counter-attack, but the home goal had a narrow escape when Beasley all but turned the ball into his own goal. Woodley made some splendid saves for the Rovers, but the visitors' custodian was not seriously troubled. After 40 minutes, however, the Rovers attacked hotly, and Lee converted a pass from Jones. Wootton Bassett hardly deserved to be in arrears.

The visitors went all out to get the ball into the Rover's net when the game restarted, and after a quarter of an hour Perry beat Woodley. This encouraged the side greatly, and the stout resistance by the Rovers' defence failed to prevent Embling scoring a winning goal for the visitors.
