Trowbridge Town and Wootton Bassett Town share 6 goals and the points

These teams met at Wootton Bassett on Saturday and shared six goals after Trowbridge were leading 1-0 at the interval. Maslen, the Trowbridge goalkeeper, was prominent in the opening stages, when Wootton Bassett made some sparkling raids. When Trowbridge took up the attack Prosser (centre-half) shot against an upright. The Trowbridge goal had a remarkable escape when Farr (sic), Wootton Bassett, sent in a shot from the right wing. The ball struck an upright and then rolled across the goal line without going in. After 40 minutes Gingell gave Trowbridge the lead from a corner taken by Mortimer. After this Wootton Bassett did almost everything but score, and the interval found Trowbridge leading by 1-0.

Wootton Bassett commenced the second half in dazzling fashion, and the Trowbridge defence could not hold them. The forwards swung the ball about freely and within a short while they were leading 3-1, goals being scored by Compton, Beazley and Perry. Trowbridge never threw in the sponge, however, and a great rally enabled Hunt to score two goals and so force a draw.
