Table toppers Ardley United were too good for Wootton Bassett Town as they secured a comfortable 4-0 victory against Dave Turner's side.

Despite the leaders' form having been somewhat shaky of late, this game was never going to be one where Bassett expected to gain anything from, especially given its scheduling in midweek. And that was the case, the home side taking the lead early thanks to a relatively soft goal. From there, Ardley never looked back.

The loss little damage done to Bassett's league position though as Witney United were unexpectedly held at home by Pegasus Juniors, who earned their first away point, while Reading Town lost by the odd goal in nine in a thriller against title chasing Wantage Town.

Saturday sees a game in which points are a far more realistic prospect when Abingdon Town visit Rylands Way. Victory will bring Bassett to within two points of them with four games in hand - the perfect motivation to put in a performance.
