Bassett U8's come out on top in first ever game against Robins

Robins were our visitors for today's match played at Ballards Ash, they were a team who we hadn't played before so we weren't really sure what to expect, but as we are in the middle of a good run at the moment we hoped we could continue this with another good performance.

Robins kicked off but it was Bassett who seemed the hungrier right from the start and before long we were taking the game to them. Scott started the game in midfield and he was soon in the thick of the action scoring Bassett's first goal with a well taken strike. A few chances came and went after this before Josh made it 2-0 with another well taken goal and Ollie made it three just before half time.

Bassett started the second half knowing it wasn't going to be as easy as the first as we were now playing against a strong wind and being focussed and strong in the tackle was now going to be important if we were going to keep our lead. But today we showed we can be disciplined when we need to be and we kept our shape really well with everyone defending excellently. Then towards the end of the match we started to pile the pressure on again and Ollie made it 4-0 to complete what was another good solid performance.

Today we adapted well to two completely different halves, the first we played with the wind behind us and we penetrated well but in the second we knuckled down and defended our lead brilliantly. There were a number of contenders for the MOTM award today with Reuben, Martin, Mitchell and Scott all in with a shout but it was Scott who just edged it showing his versatility by playing well in midfield in the first half and defending well when asked to play at the back in the second half.
