Entertaining game on the main pitch at Rylands Way

Today we entertained Westbrook in our second pre-season friendly which was held at Rylands Way. It was an evening kick off and was played on the senior's pitch which proved to be a great success and a very enjoyable experience for everyone involved, with the players also running out onto the pitch with the seniors as mascots before their game.

The match was quite an even one with both teams matching each other kick for kick although it definitely wasn't the prettiest of games to watch. Bassett didn't really get into their stride in this game but it was good to see us battling and scrapping and it showed that we can adapt to this sort of game when teams stop us playing our passing game. We used this match to try a few players in different positions and also to introduce our newest member to the team, Kalum Youngsam who will be a good addition to our squad. All the team worked hard in this match with Max Passingham, Scott Lees, Oliver Lowkis and Josh Bolton all managing to score. It was particularly pleasing to see goals coming from different players and from all areas of the pitch which is something which we must continue to do if we are going to be successful this season.

Finally I would like to say a big thank you to Pete Yeardley and Claire and Mark Smedley for their help and for allowing us to play this match and also to everyone involved with the seniors for making our players feel so welcome on the night.
