The conditions for today's match were perfect so we were hoping for a good game against a Ferndale Rodbourne side who are always a tough team to play against and what a cracker it turned out to be.

Ferndale kicked off and soon they were putting us under severe pressure which shocked our lads a bit as we seem to have had it all our own way over the last six or seven weeks and this really threw us out of our stride. Ferndale it was who opened the scoring with a good run by their powerful striker who shrugged off a number of tackles before finishing well. We then tried to get back into the game and succeeded when Josh poached a goal just before half time after some good work from Max.

In the second half we introduced Kalum and Scott into the game hoping to step up the pace a little and before long this seemed to have an effect after some brilliant passing and moving in the final third of the pitch by Kalum, Josh and Max resulted in Josh netting twice more to complete his hat-trick. After having most of the play in the opening part off this half we should have killed the game off but a very resilient Ferndale weren't going to let this happen without a fight and again got themselves back into it by pulling one back. Luckily for us we had saved our best till last and we started to knock the ball around with Kalum having the final word scoring a good goal towards the end of the match, final score 4-3 to Bassett.

Today's game was a great advert for football, it was end to end, played at a furious pace with plenty of goals and loads of commitment from both sides and a draw would have been a fairer result as neither side deserved to lose. This week's MOTM award had three main contenders, Max who worked hard and again was a constant threat to the opposition, Josh who did what he does best by scoring a hat-trick and Kalum who only came on at half time but totally changed the course of the game and gave us the extra dimension we needed.
