Under 8's play in-house friendly against Under 9B's

Another week without a League match gave us yet another chance to try different things and move players around in a match against the U9's B team which gave us a chance to test ourselves against older and physically stronger players.

The first half got underway and our players quickly stamped their authority on the game and ensured we were first into every tackle as this is where we have been lacking a little in recent weeks. This seemed to set the tone for the game and before long we took the lead, Oliver received the ball on the halfway line and started to run at the opposition, with Scott and Josh both supporting, the defence had to decide whether to go to the man with the ball or mark in the penalty area, they decided to mark and this meant that Oliver had a free run on goal and he scored with the most delightful chip over the advancing keeper. Then a few minutes later Josh picked up the ball and threaded a pass through to Scott on the left, he ran on and powered a great left foot shot into the top corner to give the keeper no chance and to make the score 2-0 at half time.

As the second half started we found ourselves under pressure but thanks to the ever alert Reuben in goal, we managed to keep our two goal advantage and before long we had made it three when Josh picked out Oliver who scored his second of the day with another good finish. With five minutes to go we made it 4-0 with another good move involving nearly all our team which ended in Oliver squaring a good ball back for Josh to net.

For the last couple of weeks we have worked a lot on our passing and movement as well as our tackling as this was where we were strongest last season but over the last four or five games we seem have let this slip, so it was very nice to see it all click again today and we played some of the best football we have played for a long time and hopefully we can carry this forward to next week's difficult game against Wroughton.
