Bassett push the champions all the way

Wootton Bassett very nearly caused the shock of the cup by pushing this seasons U13 div 1 Champions to the brink of defeat. As most of us know, the team is playing well when the opposition's manager calls foul at every challenge and Westlea's manager must have come away with a very sore throat.

It looked as if Westlea would brush us aside when the stole into an early lead when their tack-tick of releasing the extremely quick attack paid off. After 20 minutes a horrible mix up between Dan McCarthy and Jack Mason in goal allowed the Westlea striker to score a goal of great comedy. However after the interval Ben Curtis moved into midfield and our greater physical presence gave us more time in midfield. It was Ben himself who, Beckham like, launched a shot from just inside the Westlea half which totally deceived the home sides keeper and ended up in the net. We continued to push on until the final whistle and the Westlea management shouted louder and louder, shame we couldn't get another goal.

Did we play well or what!!!!
