he under 13's needed at lease a point against Devizes to finish 3rd in the division. We played them at Ballards Ash in January and won 8 nil, today we controlled the game but lost 2 – 1 and ended up 4th in the table. This was a disappointing end to a great season.

The game was mostly confined to the midfield area with Bassett winning most of the 50 50's. James Terry created many openings but the ball just wouldn't run for us on a very uneven surface. Midway through the first half Ben Curtis found space and the perfect pass from the midfield allowed him to run through and lob the keeper. At 1 – 0 we were very comfortable and perhaps too complacent. With 5 minutes till half time we pushed up too far, Devizes got in behind the defence and a cool finish gave Tom Hammond no chance.

After the interval Bassett still had the best of the play. On two occasions Ben was one on one with the keeper but each time the Devizes keeper kept him out. Other chances came and went and with 15 minutes remaining we fell to the sucker punch. Devizes ran through us and scored the devastating 2nd goal.

The final minutes saw several niggling fouls by both teams as the pressure built up and the game was lost.
