Bassett and Devizes met twice in a week in the Subsidiary Cup with Devizes top of the group with 2 wins over Old Town and our-selves 2nd with 1 win over Old Town.

The first game was played away under floodlights on the Devizes main pitch and we paid the price for slack defending handing our hosts a 2 – 0 half time lead. After the interval Bassett tightened up at the back and pushed Devizes back for long periods but failed time and again to find a way through a well drilled defence. However with 10 minutes remaining Harry Fitzwilliams found space on the right, set him-self and found the back of the net with a fine finish. The remaining period saw Bassett on the attack but never really looking like scoring.
