Another big win over Stratton Youth

Bassett travelled to Stratton with the squad of players soon to be part of the Holland exchange trip. As such this did weaken the team but did show that we have depth in the squad and all the boys played their part in a fairly comprehensive victory.

The team played well from the outset with Harry Fitz converting a fine 3rd minute effort at the keepers near post. This lead was maintained with no real threat on the Bassett goal and was extended by another Fitzwilliams shot just before the interval.

After the break Bassett maintained their territorial advantage but struggled in front of goal. The midfield created many chances but poor finishing kept Stratton in with a shout until Harry's hat-trick goal made the game safe. Dan Matthews came on for his first appearance this season and the afternoon was capped by a fine solo effort from Craig Hunt in front of the Craig Hunt appreciation society (Craig's visiting grand-parents).

Special mention to Brett Embling who stood in for Jack Mason in goal at the last moment. Jacks mother, Sally, spent the night in hospital after a car crash. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
