This defeat was hard on the under 13's. We matched Fairford all over the pitch but 5 minutes of madness just before the interval handed the home side the points.

For the first 30 minutes the boys did everything that was asked of them. They played the ball into wide positions, battled well in midfield and remained calm in defence when under pressure. The longer the game went on the more likely Bassett looked to snatch a goal on the break. Unfortunately there was a huge red button just by the pitch and we hit it. The first goal came from nothing. A nothing through ball followed by a nothing challenge and then a nothing shot which ended up in the net. Two minutes later the same thing happened and two minutes later the same again – 3 ground-hog day goals.

After the interval the team played very well and with more luck and if the mid-field players had of played 10mts further up the pitch we could have got 1 or 2 goals back. But this wasn't to be and in the dying seconds Fairford managed to break through and get a forth.

Tough on Bassett but we didn't defend for the full 70 minutes. Something to work on I feel.
