Corinium Stadium 9th April
Wootton Bassett Town's indifferent run continued as a Sam Barratt penalty nine minutes into the second half sealed a 1-0 victory for visiting Bracknell Town.
After Monday's disappointing loss at Cheltenham Saracens, Bassett's hopes of closing the gap on Bracknell - two places above them in the league in twelfth - reduced. A win against the Robins at the Corinium Stadium was therefore imperative.
However, Bassett's struggles in front of goal continued - they have scored just three goals in their last eight league games now. Meanwhile, another penalty conceded ultimately cost them. On Monday Cheltenham, levelled from the spot shortly after the restart. On this occasion, Bracknell would beat Steve Allison from twelve yards for the game's decisive goal.
Seven points now separate the two teams - a seemingly insurmountable gap given Jeff Roberts' team have just four league games remaining.
