A comfortable 3-0 Supplementary Cup second round victory against Division One West Old Woodstock Town saw Wootton Bassett Town record their first win since October 8th and extend their unbeaten run to three games.
Jeff Roberts' side took an early lead thanks to Sam Collier's penalty and never looked back.
Midway through the first half Jordan Roberts doubled Bassett's advantage, slotting in after latching onto Ryan Stanners' defence splitting through ball.
Stanners, Bassett's man of the match and a danger every time he had the ball, was again involved in the game's third and final goal. Lurking at the far post, he redirected Steve Yeardley's teasing free kick back across goal, and Shaun Carter found himself perfectly placed to guide the ball into the roof of the net.
Overall it was a solid, if not spectacular performance. Nevertheless it was still a notable day: a first win in seven, a first clean sheet since the end of August and a result that keeps the momentum built from draws against Ardley United and Highmoor Ibis going.
