A 25th minute Jimmy Deabill goal proved the difference as promotion chasing Wantage Town edged out Wootton Bassett Town 1-0.

Bassett's performance was a determined one and they gave the Hellenic League Premier Division's third placed a team an extremely difficult evening.

But they were ultimately made to pay, the towering Deabill heading home a Ben McCready cross midway through the opening period.

Jeff Roberts' team now turn their attentions to the Supplementary Cup and a potential run at some silverware as they host Division One East Penn and Tylers Green on Saturday, with a quarter final place on the line.
