Wootton Bassett Town may have taken a point from one of Division One West's high-flying teams, but their 0-0 draw at Old Woodstock Town means it is just one win in ten for Dave Turner's side, whose promotion chances are fading away.
The point lifted Bassett a place into seventh, but they are still twelve points behind their opponents on the day. And with ten games remaining, it will take a momentous run to get back into contention.
It seemed the perfect time to face Old Woodstock, who stormed out of the gates but have endured something of a drop in form in recent weeks that included a surprise away defeat to lowly Lydney. But for the second week running Bassett failed to put ball in net.
Bassett's defensive display was much improved on last week - keeping out the division's second top scorers is no small feat. But goals at the other end are what is needed most.
