Addison Road, 3rd December 2011

Wootton Bassett Town picked up a valuable point from their difficult trip to third place Easington Sports, but will be rueing conceding a second half equaliser, which could have lifted them above their Oxfordshire opponents.

Ethan Delaney had put Bassett ahead with his sixth league goal of the season. But in an even encounter, typical of the matches provided by contests between the two sides over the years, the home side were eventually able to restore parity courtesy of James Hastie on the hour.

Nonetheless, there will be few complaints about the draw, which maintains the three point gap between Easington and Bassett - one that can be more than bridged given Dave Turner's side hold three games in hand.

Coming on the same day as Purton's surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of Carterton - who visit Rylands Way next Saturday - it means the distance between Bassett and their Red House rivals is now down to a solitary point, with games still to spare.
