Another defeat for U12's but head off for Holland in high spirts

Bassett started the game well, with some good passing and movement and came close early on to taking the lead, when a ball from Tasker to Farrow ended with Old Town clearing the ball off their line. As the game progressed, Bassett became more confident with the ball and Tasker proved this by having a long-range shot go close. After a corner the boys tried to get a shot in on goal and some neat passing ended up with Tyrie blazing a shot wide, but the effort was there. Old Town were also going close and some fantastic saves from an in-form Wakefield kept them at bay. Bassett were finally awarded for their efforts when some good battling from Farrow caused Old Town to drift, he then crossed for Plaistow, who was in acres of space, and buried the ball into Old Town's net, 1-0 Bassett. Wakefield was having an outstanding game and it got better for him when he saved from point blank range, diving to get the ball. H/T 0-1

The second half started like the first ended, Old Town pressure though got through on Bassett and they equalised with a well-taken chip over Wakefield, 1-1. Bassett responded with some good play, they nearly took the lead twice, but efforts from Farrow and Mooney wouldn't go in. Then just as Bassett looked comfortable, disaster struck. When Passingham went down injured, Old Town took advantage. From the resulting throw, a cross came in and deceived everyone, and with an Old Town player waiting, he buried the ball and made it 2-1 to them. Molloy on for Plaistow. Bassett tried everything they could to get a deserved equaliser but they ran out of time and Old Town took the points, winning by 2 goals to 1. The lads now head off to Holland in high spirits and today, they may have lost, but the heart was back in Bassett for the first time in a long time. Carry on this way boys and when you come back let us see if we can have a good end of season with 2 wins against Liden and Ferndale!!!!!!!!!!!!
