Bassett brought down to earth

After last week's great result and performance against Aylesbury, Bassett looked to continue their good league form against Old Town. However, Bassett got off to the worst possible start when Old Town went 1-0 up, when the ball lobbed keeper Little. Bassett battled and battled to get an equaliser when good play from Tyrie and Passingham up the right forced a corner. Plaistow also went close, but Old Town took advantage and broke away to score and put Bassett 2-0 down. Good work from Embling, Passingham and Plaistow forces Mooney to pull a goal back, 2-1. Bassett again looked good to get another goal, but the half time whistle blew, and it was 2-1 to Old Town. Molloy on for Farrow

Soon after the break, Bassett were awarded a free kick just oustside the box and a wonder strike from Paish, hit into the top right of the net to make it 2-2. Molloy was put through by Passingham, but narrowly missed the target. Old Town then had an attack and a well-worked move saw them take a 3-2 lead. 3-2 then turned to 4-2 soon after when the ball ran through the Bassett box and 2 Old Town players were waiting to bury it in. Bassett's heads went down after this and a final Old Town move made it 5-2. At full time it ended Bassett 2-5 Old Town, this performance must improve for next week's game at home to Croft, unlucky guys after battling so hard to get it back to 2-2!
