Bassett U12 lose on a wet and windy day

Bassett started the game well with some good passing and movement on a wet and windy day. A few minutes in a goalmouth scramble ended with Swann going close, but his shot flew over the bar. As the conditions got worse, Bassett battled hard and were almost rewarded for their efforts when Tasker went close. Then disaster struck, just when it was looking as if Bassett were in control Malmesbury scored, 1-0. 1-0 then turned 2-0 a few minutes later when an unlucky Wakefield made a good save, but the ball was followed in making it 2-0. Bassett tried hard to get back into the game but with the wind blowing in almost every direction it was hard and when Tyrie caught a shot it blazed over the bar, but this encouraged Bassett and soon after a hand ball gave Bassett a penalty. Plaistow looked to convert the penalty and get Bassett back in the game, but the keeper made a good save, low down to his right. Bassett were then rewarded, a through ball from Evans to Tasker gave him a 1 on 1 with the keeper, and this resulted in a goal, 2-1 to Malmesbury. H/T 1-2. Embling on for Little at half time.

The conditions were far worse than the first half and it started to really pour down. A few minutes into the second half Bassett should've equalised, when a great run from Evans, resulted in the Malmesbury keeper parrying the ball to his right but no one could get on the end of it! Malmesbury finished the game off and went 3-1 ahead with an unstoppable shot, which went into the top right of Wakefield's goal. Farrow on for Plaistow and Tyrie off for Molloy. Bassett tried everything they could but couldn't get anything and it finished 3-1. F/T 1-3, conditions played a huge part in the game and the boys tried their best, come on lads let us get a result against Ferndale!
