Good win over Aldbourne

Several unusual incidents marked the match between Wootton Bassett Town and Aldbourne on Saturday. During the first half the referee (Mr L. Nicholls) had to receive the attention of both trainers after suffering a hard knock from the ball near the heart, and it was only with difficulty that he continued. When he appeared to have recovered a fast-travelling ball caught him on the head. At the interval the Town led by 3 goals to 1. W.J. Ogbourne, H. Bartlett and A. Embling scoring for the home tea, and A. Kings for the visitors.

The second half was disturbed by the fact that early on S. Titcombe, the Town's outside right, had to leave the field injured and took no further part in the game. With ten players the Town increased their lead. Wilkins, an Aldbourne back, put the ball back to the goalkeeper, who had the misfortune to miss it and saw it roll over the line and into the net with Embling in hot pursuit. In the closing stages Vokings, who was Aldbourne's best forward, beat C.R. Waite with a good shot and the final score was Wootton Bassett 4 Aldbourne 2.

The Town's team to visit Avebury in a Swindon and District League match tomorrow, will be: C.R. Waite; L.W. Chequers and H. Clarke; W. Ogbourne, E. Tull and J.G. Fry; S. Titcombe, W.J. Ogbourne, A. Embling, H. Bartlett and A. Compton.
