The Town advanced another stage in the Wilts Junior Cup competition which they defeated Lowden (Chippenham) in the third round on Saturday by 9 goals to 2. Within 20 minutes the Town were two up, J. Webb and S. Titcombe being the scorers, but after 30 minutes J. Hanks reduced the lead.
In the second half further goals were registered by W.J. Ogbourne and J. Webb before Harry Clarke had the misfortune to put the ball into his own net. During the last quarter of an hour the home team did almost as they pleased and goals were added by W. Sandell (2), H. Bartlett (2) and S. Titcombe. F. Davies, the Lowden goalkeeper, played the finest game seen this season from any visiting custodian on the Sports Ground
The Town will receive a visit from Ashbury [should have said Avebury] in a Swindon and District League (Division 2A) match tomorrow, and their team will be: C.R. Waite; L.W. Chequers and H. Clarke; A.S. Beale, J. Webb and A. Compton; E. Evans, H. Bartlett, S. Titcombe, W.J. Ogbourne and W. Sandell.
