The only match of interest for the Wootton Bassett Town first eleven during the holidays was the final of the V.W.H. Cup Competition on Saturday when Cricklade were their opponents. The game was played on Purton's club ground. After 25 minutes S. Titcombe gave Wootton Bassett the lead, heading into the net from a crowd of players. Cricklade tried hard to equalise and gave the Town a hard time.
From the start of the second half Wootton Bassett were the better side and goals were added by S. Titcombe (2), W.J. Ogbourne (2) and A. Compton. A. Ball and V. Young reduced the arrears towards the end and the final score was: Wootton Bassett 6; Cricklade 2. After the match Mr L.O. Hammond (Cricklade) presented the cup to the winners and C.R. Waite (captain) responded.
The Wootton Bassett Town team was: C.R.. Waite; L.W. Chequers and H. Clarke; W. Ogbourne, E. Tull and J.G. Fry; S.J. Titcombe, W.J. Ogbourne, S. Titcombe, F.W.C. Drury and A. Compton.
