A disappointing result today in a crucial end of season match; however they were a good team so we can have no complaints. Marlborough started the better and were passing the ball about nicely. We took the lead somewhat against the run of play when a volleyed pass from Joe found Daniel Carey and he slid the ball into the net. Joe was struggling up front on his own against 3 good defenders but was battling well.

Our defence was looking good but in a 15 minute spell just after half time we lost the game. Some poor defending at corners and defending our own goal kicks allowed Marlborough to punish us with 4 goals to effectively seal their win.

We did rally towards the end and got a deserved 2nd when some good wing play from Joe resulted in a cross for Hadley in front of goal who never looked like missing and smashed the ball home. It was encouraging to see us end the game looking the stronger team but overall we all looked a little despondent. Daniel Slade had a good match in defence and won the man of the match award after another consistent performance.
