A much better performance all round today. The defence looked solid with Daniel commanding things in our half and Alex biting into tackles.

George moved into the centre of midfield and it paid off with him involved in everything in the first half. We created plenty of chances but throughout the match we just didn't get many clean shots on goal. Joe had a few opportunities but still hasn't found his goal scoring touch from last season – that will come though and he is showing exactly the right attitude – trying really hard for the team.

The breakthrough came when the ball came into a crowded penalty box after some good work from Hadley. Joe instinctively shot towards goal and it found the bottom corner.

We never looked like conceding but with such a slender lead it was always a worry that they would snatch a draw. Fortunately we got a well deserved 2nd when Daniel put Joe clean through on goal. Joe's touch let him down a bit but he did enough to force a save from the keeper who could only palm out to Daniel who smashed the ball home.

A good team performance today for our first win. Ashley looked comfortable in goal, Daniel and Alex (and then Nick) looking commanding at the back, Joe looking dangerous up front and our midfield of George, Daniel C and Hadley putting in loads of good work in midfield.

Hadley was this week's man of the match with many winning tackles and some excellent distribution. Well done Hadley.
