13 Feb 2011 - Eldene Rangers (A)

A great team performance from the lads today - 5 goals and 5 different scorers! We started much the stronger side and were creating many chances. Joe was looking sharp and could have had 5 1st half goals; both Daniels, as well as George and Hadley were also putting the Eldene keeper under pressure with some good shooting. The Eldene keeper was equal to most though and was playing a blinder in goal. Joe managed to break the deadlock with a good finish to go in at half time 1:0 up.

The 2nd half was much the same with Wootton exerting a lot of pressure. Eldene scored from a free kick to level against the run of play, but we came back strongly and first George then Hadley struck good goals to give us a strong lead. Eldene were battling well though and got another to bring them back into the game. At 3:2 we looked vulnerable!

Nick Mann came off the bench in midfield and was straight into the action, hitting the post with a powerful shot. Obviously taking confidence from that strike it wasn't long before Nick went one better and found the net with another good shot for a crucial 4th goal. A very popular goal-scorer amongst his team mates, the parents and of course, the coach.

Daniel sealed the win and capped off a superb captain's performance with a lovely goal to finish the scoring. Every one of our team played well today so the man of the match was always going to be difficult to chose; however Alex picked it up for a near faultless performance at the back.
