07 Nov 2010 - Croft Juniors 'A' (A)

A cup game today against one of the best teams in the district. One of those games unfortunately where we have to hold our hands up and say that they were a much better team than us. We battled well though and with a little bit of luck we could have held on until half time without conceding. A couple of good saves from Ashley were tipped onto the post and put in on the rebound, with a third hitting the bar and deemed to have crossed the line.

The second half was much the same with Croft well on top and playing some good football. Ashley was playing a good game and saved us many times. Joe wasn't getting many chances but was holding the ball up well and battling with the defenders.

A good turnout today with 3 substitutes available which gave some well deserved rest to the starters. Ashley is looking better and better each game so is well on course for many man of the match awards, however I want him to pick his first one up when he is feeling good about the game and hasn't let so many goals in – play like that again though Ashley and there is no doubt that you will get it.

So with such good opposition, today's game was always going to be about the effort we put in, and so I made my mind up that this week's man of the match was the lad who put in the most effort, and nobody put in more effort than Hadley who kept battling until the end and didn't let his head drop.
