After the very entertaining match vs. Liden earlier in the season we very much looked forward to this fixture and as with the first game, we got to see another very good game of football played in a fantastic spirit.
We had a very unusual starting line up as both Conor and Lewis took there turn to sit the match out and Beckham replaced Conor in goal, with Ryosuke taking over from Lewis as our defensive organiser and Euan captained the team in Lewis's absence.
Our opponents started the game very well as we looked very apprehensive with our new line up and it wasn't long before they took the lead. Beckham had made a very good save which resulted in a corner and from that corner we conceded, as Becks was unable to stop the ball going into the top corner.
The ball was constantly coming back to us as our forwards struggled to get hold of the ball and Liden scored there 2nd goal, when a very well struck shot from long distance flew into the top corner giving Beckham no chance.
Half Time 0-2
We had the wind behind us in the 2nd half, as we tried to get back into the game and we played much better without ever really looking like scoring, which was very disappointing.
Our opponents were always dangerous on the break and several times we needed last ditch tackles from Ryosuke, Alanah and Harry with Beckham also making several very good saves.
With 10 minutes left we got a lifeline as Euan's corner was handballed and a penalty was awarded, as Lewis was missing Euan took on the penalty duties and smashed the ball into the net to get us back into the game with his 6th goal of the season.
As we tried to get the equaliser we threw caution to the wind and threw players forward, but it was to no avail as Liden defended very well to close the match out.
We later found out that the Liden goalie had fractured his wrist trying to save Euan's Penalty and we wish him a very speedy recovery.
Player of the Match: Ryosuke Totsuka who defended superbly throughout the match.
