Shaw end New Year unbeaten run

After two consecutive wins we went into this match in good spirits and after just 3 minutes we took the lead, when a powerful long range special from Euan Burke gave the Shaw keeper no chance as it flew into the top corner.

Unfortunately we never built on this good start, as our opponents were quicker than us all over the pitch and they soon levelled the match in the 6th minute with a well taken goal.

Although we did have a few chances to retake the lead, the keeper dealt with them very confidently and it was no real surprise when Shaw took the lead when a direct free kick flew into our net.

We then conceded another poor goal as we didn't clear the ball and allowed the ball to be poked in from close range.

Half time 1-3

The second half was to be even more disappointing as we never tackled and seemed to be very tired as we constantly found ourselves under pressure.

Shaw got there 4th goal when a speculative long range shot went through the legs of the usually reliable Conor Chivers in our goal and into the net.

We then conceded a 5th and final goal just before the end of the match as we had now let our heads drop and seemed to just be going through the motions.

This was by far our worst performance of the season, but that is to take nothing away from Shaw who thoroughly deserved their win and in Tom Steele had the best individual performance we have encountered this season.

Player of the Match: Lewis Ward who never stopped trying and defended almost on his own at times.
