Break had no negative impact on Bassett youngsters

How would we react to the half term break was the question we were asking as we made the journey to Cirencester for this match.

Well it looked like we had never been away as we stormed into a two goal lead inside the opening 8 minutes, with goals from George who finished superbly from just inside the penalty area and Ben who did what any forward should do when he put the ball into the net from close range from our corner.

The first half was all ours as we played as well as he have this season and it was a real surprise that we didn't add more goals to the 2 we had scored. The most pleasing aspect was that we passed when we could and ran with the ball into space when the time arised, believe me these are brilliant things to see from 7 and 8 year old children.

Stratton did have several attacks but found Lewis, Ryosuke and especially Alanah in superb form and they were like a brick wall in front of Conor.

Half Time: 2-0

We were kicking downhill in the second half and continued to pass the ball around very well and Matthew was unlucky to see his shot parried onto the crossbar by the goalkeeper.

We then took our foot off the pedal for a while in the 2nd half and following a Stratton throw in, a cross shot found it's way into the bottom corner of Conor's net.

This gave Stratton a lift and they then had a good passage of play with the highlight seeing Conor make an outstanding save, with a diving finger tip stop to a shot that was destined for the bottom corner.

In the last 5 minutes of the match Ryosuke had a good chance to extend our lead but was denied by a good save from the keeper.

Player of the Match: Alanah Edwards who was faultless at the back, winning nearly every tackle and then passing the ball to one of our players after winning the tackle.
