Bassett beaten by the only goal of the game against Greenmeadow

After two good victories we came into this match in good form and started the match very well, creating several early chances with the Greenmeadow goalkeeper making several good saves.

Our best chance came when a corner from Callum lead to a handball in the area and our first penalty of the season, it was a close call who was going to take it as both Lewis and Euan had scored all their penalties in the shoot outs after our matches. We decided on Euan who struck a powerful shot which gave the keeper no chance, but unfortunately it hit the post and out to safety.

Our heads didn't go down and we continued to take the game to our opponents with Beckham and Matthew going close to giving us the lead and Lewis and Alanah as usual defending very well.

Half Time 0-0

The second half was a much more even battle with Greenmeadow attacking much more down the slope and Conor made a good save to keep the scores level.

When we managed to get in behind the Greenmeadow defence we found ourselves up against a goalie who was in inspired form and he was to prove the difference between the teams on the day, as we couldn't find a way past him.

With the match looking like ending in a draw we were caught out with a quick break after Lewis had to leave the pitch injured and Greenmeadow scored their winner.

A good performance by the team but we were thwarted by a very good goalkeeper who was the busiest player on the pitch.

Player of the match: Euan Burke who had an excellent game in midfield and didn't let the penalty miss affect his performance.
