Narrow win on cold and wet day

Well after all the nice Sunday's, our players parents found out for the first time just how cold and wet you can get whilst you stand on the sidelines watching your child run around on a pitch enjoying themselves.

As a team we looked very lethargic at the start of the first half and struggled to pass the ball on a very heavy and wet pitch.

Our opponents started the match better and we had several close escapes including three shots hitting the post, before we finally went a goal behind when we didn't clear the ball from a corner and it was tapped into the net from close range.

We then started to get into the game with Callum providing some good crosses, which narrowly evaded the final touch from one of our players.

It looked like we would go into half time behind, until a corner from Callum was met on the volley by Euan from the edge of the box and the ball flew into the bottom left hand corner for his first goal of the season.

Half time 1-1

In the second half we were much more like ourselves and we started to pass the ball around much better.

After only three minutes of the second half a cross was handled by a White Horse defender and we had our second penalty of the season, Lewis put his shot emphatically in the bottom right hand corner of the net giving the keeper no chance and us the lead. This was Lewis first goal of the season.

The pitch was now getting very heavy and the wind was very cold, but both teams tried to forget about the elements and both had chances to score.

With only three minutes of the match left a long-range shot went through Conor's hands and into the net for an equalizer.

Would we now settle for a draw was the question we asked on the sidelines, as we were now only interested in getting into the cars and getting the heater on to warm up our cold bodies.

The answer was no as Harrison went on a mazy run and thumped a shot into the bottom corner to win the game for us with his second goal of the season in the final minute.

Player of the match: All the players deserved a mention as this was a match played in very cold conditions, but Lewis Ward edged it as he patrolled the defence superbly and took his penalty with great confidence.
