Much improved performance but ends in defeat

After last weeks poor performance our players gave a much improved performance and we didn't deserve to lose a game that we dominated for long periods.

We looked like a different team to the one that played against Shaw, as we competed for every ball and played some very good football from the very first whistle.

Several times in the first half we could have taken the lead as Harrison and Isaac had good shots saved by the keeper with our best chances.

Our defence of Lewis and Alanah, who had her best game of the season kept our opponents at bay when they managed to break away. They were well supported by Conor who was back to his usual reliable self in our goal.

Half time 0-0

The 2nd half saw us continue to press forward and we had several shots charged down by the Greenmeadow defence, who threw their bodies in the way of any goal bound effort to great effect.

Play was switching from end to end as both teams went in search of the all important opening goal and it was a pleasure to watch the spirit, determination and sportsmanship from both sides.

The all important winning goal went to our opponents, who scored following a good run and shot which Conor couldn't stop.

We then went in search of an equalizer and both Euan and Beckham went close for us, but it was to no avail as we slipped to a 2nd consecutive defeat.

Malc and I were very pleased with the way our players responded to last weeks poor performance and they can count themselves very unlucky to lose this game.

Player of the match: A very close call between Alanah and Isaac who both had their best games of the season, but the winner was Isaac who battled and played very well.
