Brilliant performance see Bassett Under 11's net a baker's dozen

There is only one way to describe this match from the Bassett point of view, brilliant. Bassett got back to the basic pass and move and showed us why they have only lost 2 in 2 seasons.

From the very first whistle Bassett pressured the Shaw team into giving them the ball and it paid off when Grant white won the ball in defence and sent a good ball to Man of the match Josh Shama. Shortly after Nick Buckle, once again playing a great game, followed up a shot of his own that was saved by the keeper and managed to squeeze in a good rebound. Josh Shama scored the third with a thunderous strike just inside the area that no keeper would save. Nick captured the next goal after good pressure and passing from Bassett. Josh Shama managed to get his first half hat trick with good play from Ryan Amos and Jack Brain creating the opportunity to put the ball past the keeper. Grant grabbed his first goal of the match and last goal of the half to make it a half time score of 6 – 0. It could and should have been more with Nick hitting the bar and other clear misses. Ellis Embling only had to touch the ball once in this half, and good defending from Grant and Harry "Chopper" Hazzard.

Second half kicked off and you could see Bassett wanted more. Shaw were reluctant to let any more get through and until half way through the second half goal poacher Ryan Amos scored a well taken header from a good cross, a goal that was clearly coming from the start of the first half. Jack Brain sent a superb cross-field ball to Neil little, Neil struck a fabulous shot which rattled the post and Josh grabbed his fourth goal of the match. Bassett weren't done yet and a well-deserved goal for Jack Brain was taken in true striking style by Ryan Amos with his second headed goal of the match. Josh managed to grab his fifth of the match after some good basic passing from Bassett. Grant managed to head the next goal from a well-taken corner from Jack. Grant grabbed his hat trick of the match after Josh struck a shot, which the Shaw keeper fumbled, and Grant managed to slot it into the open net. Neil scored the last goal of the match from a tap in off a corner. Cole Embling came on as a sub and despite an injury battled well in the defence. Ellis pulled off a brilliant save in the dying seconds of the match, which everyone, player and parents, thought was in.

A great result for the lads and it is nice to see the training paying off.
