Bassett suffer second defeat of the season

A disappointing result for Bassett on a pitch that has seen better days.

The first half started with Bassett putting all of the pressure on Westbrook creating opportunities to go ahead early on, to no avail. This pressure was maintained for most of the half. However it was Westbrook who opened the scoring and put Bassett 1 down halfway through the first half, with their first attack of the match. This goal was conceded due to a lack of marking at the back. Shortly after that, attack number two for Westbrook, goal number two for Westbrook who scored in the same way as their first. Bassett were able to retrieve a glimmer of hope before the half time whistle through a good shot, from an on form Harry "chopper" Hazard.

The second half started with Bassett maintaining the pressure from the first half and good attacking play from the midfield of Josh Shama, Jack Brain (M.O.T.M) and Nick Buckle. Ryan Amos upfront managed to cause the Westbrook defence a lot of hassle but was unable to get on the score sheet today. Ellis Embling in goal had a quite half and Cole Embling played his usual good performance. A tough day for Grant White who was up against his old club, but he still managed to do his best and try to retrieve something from the match for Bassett. Altogether a disappointing result but a good second half performance.
