Bassett open with an away win at Malmesbury

Wootton Bassett Under 9's started off where they left off last season , They won with a 4 - 0 nil away win to Malmesbury. To be fair the pitch was rock solid and very big for the size of the players and with Bassett having the majority of the play in the first half the Malmesbury keeper was having a great game keeping the score down to being all square at half time. Bassett with a new shape and line up for this season kept on plugging away and soon the passing came together with Nick Buckle making his debut for Bassett he was controlling the midfield along with Jack Brain and Nick made a good run he kept going and going and buried the ball in the net so a good start for Nick.

Bassett scored with a mistake by the keeper in which Chopper Hazzard followed up and scored and also Chopper scored the second with a great strike in the top corner. The defence played an excellent game with Cole Embling starting along side Josh Shama for the first time they both had a great game with Cole being man of the match so his brother Ellis had not much to do in goal. With the hard work done by then James Painter our goal keeper of last year scored to make it 4 - 0 to Bassett .

Good team effort to start with and a good game from both teams. All the players did well with good running from Jack as usual and with Ryan Amos playing his part as well.
